With your Extreme Member account you are granted FTPS access. Why FTPS and not good old regular FTP? Simple answer is for ‘your security’. With regular FTP access your password is sent using plain text and can be intercepted. For more information about secure FTP click here.

Before you get started please read the information on this page carefully.

    Q. Can I upload my own plugins or other WP-Plugins from http://wordpress.org ?

    A. Yes, you can upload and activate WP plugins with your EM account. Please note: We can NOT guarantee the security, reliability or compatibility of any external plugins with Extreme Member. This means that not all plugins will necessarily work or function the way you expect. Extreme Member has no control over how other developers code their plugins – Just keep this in mind as we do not support third party plugins.

We recommend using FileZilla FTP client. It’s free and easy to use. Please follow the instructions below to download FileZilla FTP client.

    Q. Can I upload my own wordpress themes?

    A. No. At the moment the only way to have custom themes added to your account is to have them sent to us with your site login details, username and password and a zipped version of the theme.

We then have to manually assess the code of the theme to ensure there is no malicious code and then also make some custom adjustments on Extreme Member side.

    Q. Can I upload my own images and files via FTPS?

    A. Yes, BUT…We recommend that you use the Media Manager to upload your content. That way you will have easy access to the files via the web interface. If you FTPS upload your images, videos and files it makes it more difficult to get the URL’s correct. The media manager upload function is better and fast for this function.

Do NOT create your own folders inside the Secure Files directory via FTP as Wordpress will not read those folders.

    Step 1.

Click here to download the latest version of FileZilla. DO NOT DOWNLOAD the latest version of FileZilla there are some issues with the latest version that will not allow you to connect.
