  • Forums with Wordpress
By Shane Goldberg on July 22, 2010 | No Comments Comments

There’s a number of different options out there if you want to have a forum on your WP/Extreme Member site. One of them is bbPress (built by the WP guys), then you have BuddyPress, Simple Forum, phpBB etc.

I just read an interesting article that sounds very positive for the Wordpress community which of course has a good spin off for Extreme Member clients too.

It looks as though bbPress is going to be turned into a plugin to work on any WP site.

This is fantastic news and it will make the whole process super simple, no more having to try and match skins/themes between the forum and the WP site theme or other hacking to make it work.

  • How to Sell E-books and Digital Products
By Shane Goldberg on July 19, 2010 | No Comments Comments

So how do you go about setting up your site if you want to sell an ebook or other digital product? Here I’ll cover in 5 basic steps what you need to do on the ‘back end’ side of things.

Once you’ve done that you need to go hard and market it!

    Step 1

Upload your PDF ebook to secure files – click here for instructions on that.

    Step 2

Create a new membership levelclick here for instructions on that.
But it’s VERY easy. Just go to MEMBERSHIPS > ADD MEMBERSHIP and then choose the ‘One Time’ membership.

Why do we do that? (more…)

  • One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made
    By Shane Goldberg on July 16, 2010 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

Before I get into one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made with Extreme Member let’s cover how to be successful online there’s a fairly simple formula you can follow to ensure that you’ll ‘Make It’. It aint that difficult and if you persist and are consistently going for it you’ll end up winning.

    1. Identify what your market wants – Ask them

    2. Produce it

    3. Deliver it to them at a fair price (over deliver – make sure it’s a win-win)

    4. Give amazing customer service

    5. Repeat 1-4 (more…)

  • Get the Zappos Family 2009 Culture Book for FREE!
    By Shane Goldberg on July 15, 2010 | 4 Comments4 Comments Comments

Get the Zappos Family 2009 Culture Book for FREE!

I’ve been a long time fan, fan-atic of Tony and the crew at Zappos and what they have achieved, the way they have built such an amazing company with such a heavy client focused organization.

Now to over deliver once again they’re giving anyone an opportunity to get a copy of their new culture book for free.

I highly recommend it and I’m sure you will get some real gems that you can use in your own business, things that you can do to improve the quality of your customer service and ultimately get more happy clients and sales.

Click here to check it out now. Just fill out the form and they will send you the book! I did say in my email out that there’s no strings attached. The only ’string’ as such is that you have to fill the form out – otherwise where the heck are they going to send the book to? So I don’t really call that a ’string’ more of a trade. Yes, I’m sure they will email you after letting you know about what they do etc. If you don’t like their emails OPT-OUT.

You’ll also notice they’re running a very healthy membership site. So you can get some great tips and ideas from them about that too.

If you’ve been to one of the Zappos workshops or tours please leave a comment blow and let us know what you thought…

  • So you want to turn off Double-Optin?
By Shane Goldberg on July 14, 2010 | No Comments Comments

If you’re not using Extreme Member for email marketing maybe you’ve got the Starter account and you’re quite happy plodding along without worrying about using the Email side of things now or in the near future. You ‘may’ want to turn off the forced double optin. (more…)

  • The persistence of a little kid
By Shane Goldberg on June 19, 2010 | No Comments Comments

I often marvel at just how persistent a 3 year old can be when there’s something they really want (our youngest is now 3 and very persistent!!). Whether it be not going to bed, wanting a lolly, a toy or whatever if it’s something they want they’ll crawl over broken glass or walk through fire just about to get it and in the process come up with some pretty creative justifications for it.

To be successful in business, sales, marketing or as an entrepreneur we need this same kind of determination. There are set backs from time to time, hiccups or other obstacles.

When it comes to thinking about your own business, goals and what you’re trying to achieve are you like the little persistent kid or are you like the person who runs and hides under your bed when work is involved or when there is the first sign of a challenge.

There’s never been a better time to be successful online. Let that little 3 year old persistence come alive combined with good business principles to see you reach your goals! it’s time to fly.

  • AOL purge old email addresses
By Shane Goldberg on May 27, 2010 | No Comments Comments

Hi there guys and gals, this is just a real quick one that affects EVERYONE not just EM clients who use Email Marketing.

AOL very recently purged a huge number of their outdated email addresses.  This means that if you send mail to AOL you are probably experiencing an increase in bounces from AOL.

This will obviously be only temporary, as hard bounced email addresses are automatically ‘not eligible to receive email’ on the Extreme Member system which is great for our clients ;)

    Have a fantastic day.
