Major Upgrade Announced
-
*NEW* Multiple Memberships Per User
You can now accept multiple memberships for the same user. What this means for you is if you have a person sign up for a Free Membership on your site and then they want to purchase or upgrade to a Paid membership they can do that!
Example: Client A (email address: clienta@mysite.com) signs up for a free membership, then a week later they want to purchase Paid Membership 1. In the past Client A would have to use a different email address as the system would not allow multiple memberships per email address.
Now infact Client A can sign up for unlimited Free Memberships using their same email address. Plus, Client A can purchase multiple Paid Memberships also.
There are NO restrictions on the number of ‘Membership’ Products a user can have attached to their single email address.
Previously this was not possible. This is a major upgrade.
*NEW* Upgrade/Downgrade Membership Switching
Your members can now upgrade/downgrade and switch between memberships. They will need to login to do this as they would login to update their profile on your site. There is a new tab in there now called ‘My Memberships’.
There are 2 options in there:
1. Manage Memberships
2. Order Memberships*NEW* FTP Access Enabled
We have now enabled FTP access. Please read the instructions about FTP access for further information, it will tell you how to access your FTPS details and what FTP client to use.

*NEW* Wordpress Themes Upgrade
When we launched EM we had our own custom developed Site Designer tool which allowed the user to modify different aspects of the theme. This section was really aimed at giving the non-techie person the ability to change aspects of their site design never before possible without coding knowledge with other themes.
The problem was we only had a limited number of themes and templates available to choose from and it was somewhat restrictive. It became apparent very quickly the demand for more flexibility with themes and a wider selection of themes would be required.
We set in motion our plans and development team to enable the use of standard WP themes with EM. This was surprisingly extremely complicated. One of the main issues is the system security. Fortunately for us we have a leading Internet Security Expert on our team.
For a theme to work smoothly with EM there needs to be ’some’ modifications made to it manually which is somewhat time consuming but, this then allows for the use of the theme in the standard membership environment.
What’s next?
In the next week we will have completed the modifications to all the existing themes in the Themes section so they’re all ‘EM’ modified for use.
We have had lots of requests for use of WP-REMIX and a few other Video Based themes. After our standard set of themes have had the modifications complete we will make the modifications to WP-REMIX and a few others that appear to be popular. We are unable to offer WP-REMIX immediately as an option, but should everything go smoothly in the next week we should have some good news end of next week.
Note: The use of commerical themes require a license to be purchased from the WP-Theme designer.
*NEW* Wordpress Plugins
You can now upload external plugins via your FTPS account and activate the plugins from the Plug-Ins tab in the admin area of your site.
Please note: We can NOT guarantee the security, reliability or compatibility of any external plugins with Extreme Member. This means that not all plugins will necessarily work or function the way you expect – there ‘may’ be conflicts. Extreme Member has no control over how other developers code their plugins – Just keep this in mind as we do not support third party plugins.
*NEW* Paypal Integration Upgrade
Paypal is fully integrated into Extreme Member, when you have members pay for their memberships via paypal they will be added to your membership database.
If the user cancels their paypal membership via Paypal, Paypal notifies Extreme Member immediately that the subscription is cancelled and the member access will be disabled.
Please note: When creating a membership if you select the ‘Subscription Period’ as Lifetime Paypal will default to the maximum allowed term by Paypal of 5 years.
Hiding a Membership from the Upgrade Options
If you do not want a particular membership to appear in the Switching section or Order Memberships section, go to ‘Edit Membership’ in your admin area select YES to ‘Hide from Upgrade Options’ section.

Creating a Membership Sign up Form Tip!
When creating a membership signup form you do not need to add a password field to the form. Passwords are generated automatically for your members. They will be emailed their login details after they signup including a password. Once they have logged in for the first time they can update their password to something personal they will remember.
When creating a Login form you would use the password field since clients need to enter their username and password to login to their membership.
How to Create a Custom Landing Page after Logging in
Step 1: Create a new ‘Login’ form, this form will include a Username and Password field (since your members need their username and password to login).

Step 2: Select where you want the members to be redirected after the login successfully.

Step 3: Save your form.
Step 4: Create a new page called ‘Login’ or ‘Member Login’
Step 5: Insert the form onto that page, save and publish the page.
