Want to double conversions?By Shane Goldberg on September 11, 2008 | 2 Comments
Here’s an interesting video on Buy Now / Add to Cart buttons. The key to this is testing. You really need to test different alternatives in ‘your’ market/niche.
To use this strategy for Extreme Member site owners you would do this by a 2 step process. First, create your sales page or page with the information people need to know before buying. On that page you would add your ‘Add to Cart’ button as explained in the video. Then after the user clicks on your Add to Cart button they would then go to step 2. which is your Order page, possibly with a brief summary (dot points) and this is where you would insert your ‘Membership Signup form’
Enjoy the video.

Minor Update – Notifications, Optin ConfirmationsBy Shane Goldberg on September 11, 2008 | No Comments
There was a minor issue with pre-written notifications (in the Memberships) tab and Optin Confirmations. What was happening was each time we would release a new update for Extreme Member it would reset the Optin confirmations and notifications would be cleared back to the default settings.
This has now been resolved.

Dont get sucked into this techniqueBy Shane Goldberg on September 11, 2008 | No Comments
Building a membership site can be one of the most rewarding and personally satisfying things to do in business. There’s nothing better than building a business that continues to pay you month after month on autopilot.
Here’s an experience I just had with a particular subscription / membership site service I was using.
I joined it some time ago and it was good for what it did. But the time came when I needed to cancel the membership.
I logged into my account and expected to find something about canceling, possibly a Cancel account link, button or even some information possibly on how to cancel my account should I need to.
But, do you think I could find ANYTHING? No siree! Not a thing. Infact this company was so cheeky enough to not even put ANY contact information on their site. They had a support suite but I guess they thought it would be really funny to disable anyone from submitting tickets so they didn’t allow ticket support?! Just gets better hey?!
I finally tracked down my original receipt for this service which is all I had since they didn’t issue any kind of receipts when the account billed each month (lucky I even had that still) so I sent off an email to that email address.
The only other contact information I could find was on my Credit Card statement with the phone number. So I called the company in the USA from Australia and had to leave a voice message which is fine (as long as they actually get the message).
I know people make mistakes in business, some bigger than others and sometimes things don’t go as planned and you may goof up. But all in all this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. At the end of the day I just wanted to cancel my account and didn’t want to have to do anything special to do it other than contact them and make it happen.
So, once again this re-emphasises to me the importance of being transparent and not making it difficult for your clients to do the most basic functions like canceling an account. Extreme Member site owners have the tools to manage their site in a professional way to continue to give maximum value to their clients and keep them happy.
I understand their thoughts that by making it difficult for their clients to cancel they will keep them paying for longer, but this is a very shortsighted view and will ultimately backfire. It doesn’t take long to upset your clients and this is one sure way of doing it. It is most definitely an intentional tactic planned to play of one of the most basic human traits ‘Laziness’ e.g. Make it so difficult and time consuming to cancel that people will say it’s too hard and give up then we can keep billing them and get more of their money ohhahaha!! LOL
Just another reason why I love Extreme Member it is a great tool to help run a “Professional” business.
Have a great day, stay transparent and give good value for money.

How you can massively increase your subscriber listsBy Shane Goldberg on September 8, 2008 | No Comments
If you would like to increase the number of your subscribers and members dramatically then this tip could be for you.
Permission based email marketing has been around for years and has been a very affordable and effective way of marketing to a large number of clients and subscribers. Infact email marketing is so common now even the ‘main stream’ businesses and corporations have caught on like banks and supermarkets! (you know it’s mainstream when they’re using it!!)
When a particular way of marketing becomes so common place it can lose that special exclusivity factor it once had. Now don’t get me wrong here! Email marketing is still a great way to go and very effective for delivering valuable content and special offers to your subscribers but now MORE THAN EVER it is extremely important to ensure the type of information you are delivering is:
1. Relevant2. Valuable and worth reading
If you make the mistake of messing up either one of these areas then you will have problems with response rates and also the likelyhood of viraly increasing your database and pool of subscribers.
So what’s HOT?
It’s no secret that Membership sites are HOT! They are very HOT. So smokin’ HOT infact that virtually all of the biggest names in the internet marketing scene and many many other niches are using Membership sites to generate millions of dollars in revenue and profits for themselves month after month.
Where to start?
As you know Email Marketing has lost some of it’s wow factor for subscribers, now more than ever are people happy to unsubscribe from boring, irrelevant information and email lists BUT A great way to start is to offer a FREE Membership! That’s right FREE.
Think about it for a minute. What do you think when you hear the word ‘Membership or Club or Insiders Club or Inner Circle?’
Some words that come to my mind are:
- Exclusive
- Valuable
- Limited
- Can I get in?!!
Using a FREE membership is a killer way to attract new leads and subscribers to your business. Memberships are more valuable than just opting in for a free newsletter. Their perceived value is much higher, people want to be included, people like being a ‘member’ of a club or inner circle.
Have a GREAT day and good luck using the Free Membership Model in your business.
